Holmfirth is a traditional Yorkshire town in the beautiful Holme Valley, near Huddersfield in West Yorkshire.

Surrounded by rolling hills and countryside, it’s right on the edge of the Peak District National Park, making it a great starting point for exploring this wonderful part of Yorkshire.

What is Holmfirth famous for?

Many people know Holmfirth as the home of the much-loved BBC comedy Last of the Summer Wine, which was filmed in and around the town for decades.

You’ll still find plenty of familiar locations, including the famous Sid’s Café and Nora Batty’s Steps.

But Holmfirth has a lot more to offer, with a rich industrial history, a fantastic independent shopping scene, brilliant food and drink, live entertainment and some of Yorkshire’s most beautiful countryside.

Where can I park in Holmfirth?

There are several public car parks in and around Holmfirth town centre, making it easy to explore on foot once you’ve arrived.

Is Holmfirth worth visiting for a weekend?

We certainly think so!

There’s plenty to enjoy over a couple of days, from independent shops and restaurants to live music, countryside adventures and nearby villages.
